Step 1

First, take as many carrots as you will use. If there are leaves on the top, never cut these leaves on the carrot. Then cut this top in one go with a sharp knife, just a few fingers thick. Do not neglect to use the remaining long part of the carrot in meals or salads as you wish.

Step 2

Place the small parts of the carrot that you cut and set aside in a plate or bowl, with the side you cut at the bottom. Then put clean water on the plate about half of the carrot pieces and let stand in this way. Place the carrots in a place that receives light but is not directly exposed to sunlight.

3rd step

Change the water you put in the carrots every day so that the upper parts of the carrot pieces are green and the lower parts are formed. You can see the difference in about a week.

4th step

To prevent the greening carrot pieces from rotting, do not soak them in water for too long and transfer them to the pot. Allow drainage by placing small pebbles at the bottom of the pot of your choice. Then fill the soil up to 3/4 of the pot, carefully place the carrots that are fringed and green on top and add some soil again. During this planting process, make sure that the parts that grow green are not under the soil.

5th step

Water once or twice a week and wait for your carrots to grow. Of course, the carrots you will get will not be like the ones you buy from outside in shape and size, don't worry. You can get smaller, rounded carrots.

While you are waiting for your carrots to grow, you can change the atmosphere of your home with its leaves that grow longer and look wonderful, and you can even prune these leaves in a way that will not harm the plant, and you can use them in your salads.

If you want to buy seeds and get lots of carrots from those seeds, there is a lot you need to know:

  • First of all, before planting the seeds in the soil, wrap them with a napkin or cotton that you moistened the night before, so that each of them is more likely to germinate.
  • Then get it from a rich soil called peat and share a small amount of peat in plastic cups and put the seeds on it. Finally, put some peat on the seeds again.
  • After your seeds start to germinate, first place the pebbles on the bottom of the pot you will use and then the soil on it and move the germinating seeds to the pot without damaging them.
  • After this stage, make sure that the soil remains moist, but not too wet, watering once or twice a week. After about 3-4 months, your carrots will begin to come to the size to be collected.
  • But beware, the best times to grow carrots from seed are between February and November. Therefore, it is useful to set the timing well.
